Rats

I was walking along the Thames towpath in Watermans Park in Brentford yesterday. There are a number of abandoned boats along there in varying states of disrepair. One of them is half-sunk and covered in various forms of vegetation (there's no doubt a PhD in how such a structure is colonised - where does the soil come from, for instance?) I was looking at it and saw some dark, furry creatures moving around. Three rats, plain as pikestaffs. Yikes! I hope they don't decide to head over the road to Capital West.

I also saw some herons on Brentford Ait. They are big blighters. Quite amusing seeing one try to land on a branch! Its first attempt failed, but it managed at second go, but really they're a bit large for that game!

On the bird front, I saw a woodpecker in Kew Gardens on Saturday. A perfect Woodpecker Cider woodpecker.

Egads, that all sounds far too rural for me.

On Friday we were looking around London thinking we could countenance living there again, as we may have to if M's work takes her back to the "Smoke".

Not sure where though. We played "fantasy" places to live. M liked Notting Hill and the areas around that. Which, while nice, are farsically expensive.

We will have to see.

We did work out we could afford a 1 bedroom place in St John's Wood if she gets a really high salary. If would mean that the books would have to go into store for a while.

Brentford is only 20 minutes from Notting Hill by bus. West London is the place to be! Chiswick, Kew, Richmond, Twickenham, Gunnersbury, Ealing, Acton, Syon Lane, Isleworth. Oh and Brentford. Of course. You *definitely* don't want your books in storage. They do furnish a room.

There is furnishing a room, and as M puts it, being able to get furniture in the room because of those "bloody books".

A happy compromise may be possible by finding a way to store the paperbacks.

Richmond is a bit far out I think, and a traffic nightmare. We'll need to think on this more and its a bit early to say. There's still Seattle.
