A Need for Speed

I'm trying to configure my ADSL connection.

One thing that struck me: how does the ADSL router know which IP address (i.e. the address of the service provider) to create the PPP connection to? There doesn't appear to be any obvious way of entering this information (or even knowing what the IP address is unless it's one of the 8 IP addresses allocated to me).

Thoughts?

John,

thanks for the tips.

The secret was to put the router address I was given by Zen as the static IP address in the PVC configuration panel. What is confusing that the default is to have the IP address allocated dynamically. But how would the router know where the DHCP server might be?

Anyway, the main thing is that I now joined the third millennium officially. And I get Sky on Wednesday!

Well, Zen are reasonably priced and seem to have carried out their sign of the bargain with the expected efficiency.

I've got a D-Link wireless ADSL router. It works! Well, the router works. Not sure about the wirless part yet.
