That's Virtual Dolby, I hasten to add.

Bought my first DVD. "The Italian Job". It was only £9.99 on offer in Borders, Oxford Street. It was an impulse buy. And it is the greatest film ever made, isn't it? Well, it's got Noel Coward in it for Christ's sake. And Benny Hill. What more does a film need?

I just had a Messenger window pop up with an advert for "the most bizarre fetish sites". WtF??? Has anyone else come across this?

I also need to get broadbanmd access. So far, I've been recommended BTopenworld and Zen. Thoughts?

I've signed up for an Arvon Foundation course "Breaking Boundaries" in Shropshire in August. I don't think I've ever been to Shropshire before. The tutors are Alison Fell and Geoff Dyer. I can't say I'd heard of either before, but they sound interesting people. The main reason I am going is because the guest author is Jonathan Coe, a writer I admire greatly. Of course, he'll only be there for a couple of hours, but what the heh. Mavis Cheek recommended that I go for the BB course rather than the popular fiction one I was toying with. Living in "Chick Lit" country as I do now ("West Chiswick"), I'm going to get enough of that kind of thing automatically.

I've also signed up for ClubSix dining club and a madsocialwhirl.com speed dating event. I need the material as my writing tutor (Philip Jennings) suggested to me that there is a rich vein of material to mined there.

Comet arrived with my new TV at 9 this morning. Very propmpt. I was proud of the fact that I managed to put the stand together this evening. I even got the doors to line up (more or less). Unfortunately, the TV is so heavy that there's no way I can get it on the stand on my own. Still, it works and it's good to have a telly that shows all three primary colours. Roll on Saturday when I will be getting my HDD/DVD recorder and PSII, I hope. If I'm lucky, I'll have Sky next week. At last, I'll be a multichannel household.
