Bearing Interest
Jun. 22nd, 2005 01:49 pmBased on the lj interests lists of those who share my more unusual interests, the interests suggestion meme thinks I might be interested in
1. fanzines score: 21 pmcray: fanzines are so C20th. For me, the web in general and blogs in general have filled the space that paper fanzines occupied in the 1980s. If only I had more time.
2. science fiction fandom score: 16 pmcray: I no longer wish to be a SMOF.
3. real ale score: 15 pmcray: a way with the nasty stuff.
4. memetics score: 15 M pmcray: could be interesting. Popular with singularitarians. But is memetics really a science?
5. ansible score: 12 pmcray: of course. But that's implied by my interest in the Man Himself.
6. stanislaw lem score: 12 pmcray: I think I've read a Lem book. I think. I know I have a copy of both the novel and the (original) film of Solaris. Lem is one of those writers that I really need to get into. But the book of his that I really want to read Summa Technologiae is only available in Polish. I need to learn Polish.
7. italo calvino score: 11 pmcray: I have a couple of Calvino books. He's on my To-Be-Read pile.
8. esoterica score: 11 pmcray: of course. But what esoterica?
9. eastercon score: 11 pmcray: I've been to Eastercons. I will go to Eastercons again. But that's far as it goes these days really.
10. usenet score: 11 pmcray: this is 2005.
11. worldcon score: 11 pmcray: as for Eastercon.
12. sf cons score: 10 pmcray: as for Eastercon
13. iain banks score: 9 pmcray: must read some IMB.
14. natural history score: 9 pmcray: well, yes, definitely. So many books, so little time.
15. the baffler score: 9 pmcray: I am subscriber. Does that count?
16. civilization score: 9 pmcray: the TV series? The board game? The computer game? Human society in general? Count me in on all of them.
17. rasff score: 9 pmcray: this is 2005.
18. bog bodies score: 9 pmcray: that one came in under the radar. I wouldn't say bog bodies in and of themselves interest me much.
19. novacon score: 9 pmcray: as for Eastercon (except I've never been to a Novacon).
20. bsfa score: 8 pmcray: I might rejoin when I can afford it.
