Breakdown of Communication
Dec. 17th, 2003 04:52 pmI'm having a problem with my net connection at home.
The Ethernet ports on my ADSL router don't appear to be working.
The Ethernet card on my PC does seem to be working as ipconfig reports the details of the card and I can ping the card using both the loopback address and the actual IP address.
The various lights related to the ADSL functionality of the router are flashing suggesting that that functionality is working, but not those associated with the Ethernet functionality.
I bought a new Ethernet cable yesterday hoping that was the problem. It made no difference. It's possible I have two dude cables. More likely, I'm going to have to get a new ADSL router :(
On a lighter note, we went to Hamburger Union (http://www.hamburgerunion.com) on Garrick Street last night. The service was still finding its feet, but the burgers and chips weren't actually bad at all. A pleasant change from Wagamama or Pizza Express. The couple next to us had their burgers with lettuce leaves rather than buns. The Atkins Diet is everywhere!
Saw the Tate Modern sun. It's different. But i prefer the bookshop there. First class. The Courtauld Gallery has a good, much smaller, shop. I wasn't tempted on to the ice ;) Disappointing few people were falling over. You could get hot chocolate with a dash of Absolut Orange for £5.50.
