Went to the Havelock Tavern this lunchtime. It's about 5 minutes walk from Kensington Olympia station. Excellent. I had rare roast beef and chips with spinach and delicious horseradish sauce followed by a delightfully light custard tart with poached pear. My companions had lamb casserole and fish cakes respectively, followed by chocolate cake with creme fraiche. These looked good and apparently were, I was told. I had three glasses of wine from the (fairly short) list of wines by the glass. There is a longer list of bottles. The house red was particularly good.

One tip: get there early to bag a table as there is no booking and the place is heaving by just after 12:30 when they start serving food. We had at least three groups of people ask us if they could have first refusal on our table when we (finally) left.

Service is a little erratic, don't expect the meals to arrive at the same time, but, heh, they're busy and the food was good.

Definitely recommended.
